Happy Thanksgiving!

I know I'm a few days late, but Happy Thanksgiving!  The girls and I went to see my parents on Wednesday for Thanksgiving and came home this morning. Kevin had to stay behind because he got new chickens last night.  We had a busy time in Greer....Thanksgiving on Thursday, decorating Nana and G-Dad's Christmas tree, going to see Santa, going to see Disney Princesses on Ice, going to see more family and cousins, etc...but it was a great time with family.

Went to see Santa at the John Deere Store...Kevin loved this Christmas picture! :0)

Neither one of my girls would sit on the seat with Santa, this was as close as they would get.

Happy 86th Birthday, Grandma Thelma!

Sunday, November 6th, we celebrated Kevin's Grandma Thelma's 86th birthday.  Its hard when people do not live close by to get everyone together with our busy schedules, but the family was able to come together to celebrate this special lady.

In Loving Memory of Bobby L. Scott

Yesterday afternoon, our family received some shocking news....that my great uncle Bobby had passed away.  Kevin and I saw Bobby 2 weeks ago when we went to Greenville to see my parents.  Bobby had had surgery to have some gallstones removed and to have his gallbladder out.  He was also sick with a touch of pneumonia but all in all he was doing good from the surgery.  He had been moved into an assisted living place to help him recover.  Yesterday morning he had a procedure done to remove the stint that had been left in from his surgery and it went great. My dad was with him all morning.  Then a few hours later we find out he has passed away.  The nurse had checked on him and told him that she would be right back. When she came back, he was face down in the bathroom and was gone.  The funeral is planned for Friday morning.  Bobby was 86 years old. His wife, my aunt Ann had passed away 4 years ago in October.  He had really been missing her since she has been gone.  We know he's in a better place and is happy to be reunited with her. He has so much to tell her about these great-grandbabies that have been born since she has been gone.  He was a special person and someone that I was close to.  All of the holidays were spent at their house, we took vacations together, he would do anything he could to help you out.  He was a pharmacist, a life-long Carolina Gamecock fan, a Myrtle Beach goer, sang every Sunday morning in the church choir, he served in the Korean war, he loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will be missed but his memory will live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Ann and Bobby were a very special couple and God used them to do HIS work to help many, many people.  I know they are rejoicing in heaven.

This was at Alexis 1 year birthday party: Bobby, Me, Alexis, Madalyn, Kevin (January 2016)

Bobby made a special trip to come see "Alexis Ann" when she was born.  He really thought a lot of both Madalyn and Alexis. However, with Alexis having "Ann" as part of her name, she was a special twinkle in his eye. (January 2015)

Shoeboxes Packed

Its time for Operation Christmas Child....we packed our shoeboxes today.  I always do a shoebox based on the age of Madalyn and now we pack two.  I pray that the two little girls that receive these boxes not only have a happy Christmas because of these boxes but also one day come to know Christ as a result from these two boxes.

Inside the shoebox for a girl age 5-9:
Two bars of soap, pink washcloth, pink notebook, pack of multi-colored pens, Strawberry Shortcake coloring book, pack of crayons, Disney Princess Palace Pets LEGOS, princess toothbrush, toothpaste, Shimmer & Shine book with stickers, Barbie stickers, Tinkerbell puzzle, and a Raccoon CareBear.

School Conference

This week I had to attend a conference for school called ED TECH and it was in Myrtle Beach, SC. Since we currently don't have chickens, it worked out for Kevin to go with me. So we left the girls at home with his parents and my parents and Tuesday after school headed to Myrtle Beach.  This was the first time we had been away from Alexis since she was born. It was the first time we have had the chance to get away just the two of us since she has been born.  We greatly enjoyed our stay, even though I was at the conference during the day. Where we stayed was right on the beach and even though we were on the 17th floor, each night you could clearly hear the ocean roaring, it was very peaceful.

Pumpkins

I have not posted our Halloween pumpkins yet.  Madalyn wanted to paint her pumpkin instead of carving it.

I painted Alexis pumpkin as a black cat because Alexis likes cats. Madalyn painted her pumpkin half pink and half blue.  Then she wanted the pink half to have a cat face.

She wanted the blue half to have a puppy face.

On Halloween, we took the girls to a festival at this church in Williston.  They combine their fall festival with our school.  Madalyn wanted to go trick-or-treating with her friends from school.  They had a bull riding thing there and Madalyn wanted to ride.  She did pretty good however her tights made it harder for her to hold on.

Last Sunday, it was a cool morning going to church.  The girls had on their new fall dresses so I grabbed a quick picture after church.
