Sweet Baby Girl

 My sweet baby girl, Alexis.  She's growing and changing so fast. Love when this baby girl smiles at me. I enjoy the sweet little conversations that we have together. She's so precious and I am so thankful for her.

Friday the 13th

Well, today is Friday the 13th and it turned out to be an interesting day at school....Everything started out normal, but then at 11:00, we had announcement made that we were on lock down. I had a 5th grade class at that time, so we followed the procedure that we knew to do. After the students had been hiding under their desk for an hour, we were told to evacuate the building. So I walked my (hungry students because they had missed lunch) to the playground. We waited for everyone to come out of the school and then we loaded all the students on the bus and we headed to the Williston First Baptist church. We waited there for parents to come pick their students up. There had been a bomb threat made at the high school and middle school. So those schools had been evacuated before us, but they felt the need to get us out as well.  The kids did great following orders, however some were scared and crying with all that was going on. It was 1:00 by the time we made it to the gym and starting dismissing students. By 2:00 all but a handful of students were left from all three schools. We then got on a bus and came back to school and were dismissed to go home. I don't know anything more than what I have written here as to what all went on. We teachers just got our keys and cars and left. Students left bookbags, lunchboxes, etc. at school. Some were upset about leaving their things, but they will be there on Monday. I'm just glad it's Friday and the kids and us have 2 days to calm down after all this excitement. Just goes to show, you never know how your day is going to go once you leave your house in the morning. Thankfully everyone was safe.

Wednesday at the Dentist

When I got home from school this afternoon, I picked Madalyn up and took her to the dentist. This was her 2nd trip to the dentist. She was excited to go because she was going to get a new toothbrush. She did really well and got a great report.  She sat in the chair by herself this time. This time they did a regular cleaning on her, flossing and everything. She was so good, she got to go to the prize drawer and she got her new toothbrush.

Happy Girl!

I was sitting in the floor talking to Alexis, when Kevin let Bella in the house. After a few minutes, she came into the den with a "prize" in her mouth. I didn't know if it was dead or alive, but I called her back into the kitchen and then she dropped her "prize". Thankfully it was already dead.

Alexis: 2 Month Check Up

Alexis had her 2 month check up on Friday. She got a good report. Poor baby had to get 3 shots, but she's done good with them. The only thing the doctor told us to work on was to get her on a regular schedule with her eating. Each day she gets on a different schedule, our fault, so we are working on sticking to a schedule and she actually had her last bottle at 10 pm last night and slept til 7am this morning. So, hopefully this is the turning point with her and she will start sleeping all night long. But even if not, she was only waking up once.

At 2 months old:

weight: 11 pounds 8.12 oz, 75%

length: 24 1/4 in long, 90%

She is such a happy and pleasant baby. She smiles, coos and gurgles all the time. She loves being in her rain forest and loves for you to talk to her. It's so much fun now because you can carry on a conversation with her and actually feel like you get a response back and you know she's listening to you. She's starting to develop her own little personality.  When she's laying down if she's hungry or sleepy, she sucks her fingers and looks like she tries to twist her hair. It's fun to watch her grow and change.

Poor thing had scratched her face several times. So I cut her fingernails, but on the last one I got some skin. She screamed, it started bleeding and I felt so bad. It's hard to cut those little fingernails and especially when they won't be still , for you.

Friday, when I got home from taking Alexis to the doctor, I found this really big box on my back porch. When I opened it, I found this picture. My friend, Lindsey, had sent this to me to hang in Alexis' room. It was so sweet and kind of her to do that. I love the picture and can't wait to get it hung up in her room. 

Wednesday

It's Wednesday...been a very busy and long week...here's a snapshot of our Wednesday afternoon so far.

I can't believe that in 17 days my first baby girl will be 4 years old!

A Warm Afternoon

This afternoon we had beautiful weather here...75 degrees. So after I picked the girls up we spent some time outside. We went for a walk, blew bubbles, and played soccer. We finished off the afternoon with some refreshing Popsicles for Madalyn and myself, and a bottle for Alexis.

Alexis wasn't too impressed with soccer or bubbles. This was her first time outside other than going back and forth to the car. She liked the stroller ride as long as I kept her moving. 

Pink & Purple Hair

So, Friday afternoon, I took Madalyn to get a much needed hair. We probably took about 3 inches off her hair. The night before she kept telling me that she wanted pink hair. She knew she was going to get it cut. So after my sister-in-law cut her hair, I asked if she could put some pink in it. Nothing permanent, it was chalk. However, Madalyn was upset Friday night when her "pink and purple" was disappearing.  The funniest thing was the look on Kevin's face when he saw her hair. I wish I had been able to take his picture. He wanted to make sure it would wash out.

I told Alexis she had to wait until she was almost 4 to get color in her hair.
