Sunday

Here's Madalyn before we left for church this morning holding her elephant she got last night at the circus.

Madalyn's new hat

One of the 2nd grade teachers that I teach with, her sister made this hat for Madalyn.  She's had it for about a week now and she loves her new hat; she's so proud of it.

Fun at the Circus

Last night we took Madalyn to the circus.  The circus was in Augusta, GA.  Neither Kevin nor myself had been to the circus since we were little, so it was a treat for us as well.  Kevin was the one who saw that the circus was here and it had on the news that if you got to the circus an hour before the show, you could go back stage and see the animals and meet the performers.  I really didn't know how Madalyn would do, as far as sitting still and behaving herself.  She did really well over all.  She only hit the lady in front of her 3 times. (She accidentally kicked her one time changing from my lab to Kevin's lab and twice she hit her with her hand.  And once she almost got a hold of the lady's ponytail, but I grabbed her hand before she could pull it.)  Right before intermission she started to get a little restless, but she was getting hungry and tired, so Kevin took her to get something to drink and eat.  Over all, we all 3 enjoyed it.  And amazing, she stayed awake all the way home and we had an hour drive. So she didn't get in bed until 10:30 and was up at 7:30 this morning, ready to go to church.

Madalyn loves elephants.  She has only been to the zoo once and that was when she was 13 months old.  So this was the first time she has seen an elephant close up in a long time.  When she saw it she was like "whoa!" She didn't want to leave this area.  During the show when the elephants went back through the curtain, she wanted to go with them.  She just stared and stared at the elephant and was so excited to see it

Madalyn had an elephant on her shirt and when she realized that it was an elephant on her shirt and one in front of her, she got really excited making that connection.

We had really great seats.  We were close to everything and we were right in front.

Let the show begin!

Time for the Elephants!  The elephants were the best act of the show according to Madalyn.

It was a fun night for all!

Madalyn's Trip to Myrtle Beach

On Monday, I went to school, Kevin went to the chicken houses and Madalyn....went to Myrtle Beach!  She and her Meme and Pop snuck off to Myrtle Beach for the day.  (Mr. Tim had to go for something with the Gideons; so Madalyn and Meme went along for the ride.)  Madalyn had a great time running on the beach and picking up shells.  She brought home so many sea shells...she has played and played with them, including in the bathtub.

On the way home..what a great day!

Play Doh

This weekend Madalyn and I had to make a run to the Dollar General to pick up just a few items.  While we were there I bought Madalyn some Play Doh.  She hasn't played with it before and I thought it would be fun to introduce her to it.  My first mission was to teach her that you don't eat it or lick it.  (I have a 22 month old and she still puts things in her mouth like she did when she was a baby.  I know kids go through different stages and since she was about 19 months old she started putting everything in her mouth again.)  Then I tried to show her how to roll the Play Doh, pressed it flat on the table, and how to make things.  She did press it down and mostly she tore it up, but she had fun playing with it.  So now we have a new rainy day or cold day inside activity to play with.

No, we don't eat the Play Doh.

Play Doh is so much FUN!

And no Madalyn didn't make this I did, which I'm sure you could guess that. :0)

The New Building at Work

Saturday was the first day of many that the new building was put into use.  Humble Acres had to bag 20 pallets (which is 1,280 bags of compost) to be hauled to Tennessee.  They also bagged 2 more pallets (which is 128 bags) to go to Sumter, SC.

Here is another new addition to the farm that was bought this week.  We needed a truck to haul the compost; so my brother-in-law, Ryan and Mr. Tim (my father-in-law) went truck shopping this week.

Big Daddy (Ryan's grandfather) is going to be the truck driver for the farm.  He's checking the tires to make sure all is working fine for his first run on Tuesday morning.

Houston (my nephew), Kevin, Mr. Tim, and a friend of Ryan's working on the compost.  They have to bag it, seal it, stack it, wrap it in plastic, then load it on the truck.
