Erasing Easter

Kyle Idleman is a preacher/teacher/author. I am currently do a Bible Study of his called "Not a Fan" and it's one of the best ones I have done in a long time; I highly recommend it. He currently is a teaching pastor at Southeast Christian Church in KY.  On his web page he has some sermons. I watched  this one today called "Erasing Easter" and he talks about what it would be like if Easter never existed. If you  have 25 minutes to watch or listen, you need to play this sermon.

Happy Easter

I know I'm a week late, but Happy Easter! We had a nice day even though it was cold, cloudy, and rainy; we were here at home. We went to church and after church they had an Easter party for the kids at church. We stayed for a little bit but it was more for the older kids. We had lunch at Kevin's grandma's house and then we had dinner at Kevin's mom's house. We didn't dye Easter eggs this year or even do an Easter egg hunt; I really didn't think about doing either one. But Madalyn did get to do those things at preschool.  She had a fun day playing with her cousins and it was a great day celebrating our RISEN Savior.

Our Trip to the SC Aquarium

When I heard that "real" mermaids were coming to the SC aquarium in Charleston, I knew that I had to take Madalyn.  Kevin got off work early today and the 3 of us headed to see the mermaids.  There were so many people there; I couldn't believe how many people were at the aquarium. Thankfully I ordered our ticket online, because it was a 2 hour wait to get into the aquarium if you had to purchase your tickets there.  We watched the mermaid show, then we toured the rest of the aquarium, and lastly, Madalyn got her picture made with a mermaid.  Here are some highlights from our day.

It was hard to get a clear picture of the mermaids due to the large crowd of people, the lighting, and movement, but you can get the idea.

Madalyn wanted to get her picture made with the mermaid, but when it came her turn she got scared. The mermaid was really good with Madalyn. She kept talking to Madalyn and after a minute or two Madalyn was sitting with her. I really appreciated her patience and her working with Madalyn. Also, the camera guy was great too. He was patient and didn't rush us out, and he took like 4 pictures until he got a good one. Madalyn has talked about the "blue" mermaid a lot since we got home. She keeps looking at the picture. I'm glad we did this and I am so proud of Madalyn for sitting there because I really didn't think she would.

Now for the rest of the aquarium. We start in the mountains with a bald eagle.

Baby alligators; Madalyn thought they were so cute!

What a fun day we had!

Ever since we went to the beach back in September, Madalyn asks if she can go to the beach.  So after we left the aquarium, we went to the Isle of Palms for Madalyn to see the beach. It was cold, windy, and had started to rain, so all we did was walk to the beach see it and turn around and get back in the car. We had hoped for a 70 degree sunny day when we came to the aquarium, so she could play on the beach some, but hopefully we can come back when it's warmer.

Happy Birthday Kevin!

I am on spring this week and enjoying my time off. So far, we went to see my parents over the weekend and today we are celebrating Kevin's birthday.  The 32nd year has been one full of health issues, challenges, disappointments, and blessings.  I hope and pray that Kevin's 33rd year will be one of good health and lots blessings. Today, Madalyn and I surprised Kevin with a "tailgating" theme lunch.  Tonight we will celebrate again, the 3 of us, with a special dinner that Kevin picked out for me to cook more of his favorites; crock pot Pot Roast, rice & gravy, fried okra, rolls, carrots, and of course another slice of cake!

Kevin's Tailgating favorites: hot ham/cheese mini sandwiches, ranch/bacon/cheddar dip with chips, and bbq little smokies with sweet tea to drink.

Dessert...Kevin's favorite...Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

Happy 33rd Birthday, Kevin aka Daddy!

Yum Yum! In the words of Madalyn "Daddy's cake is very tasty!"

However, any time Kevin tries to get Madalyn to say "Go Cocks' or I try to get her to say "Go Tigers" she always says " Go Lions!". I guess she's a Detroit fan.
