My Sick Little Girl

Well, this is Madalyn's third Christmas, and so far each Christmas, she ends up sick the week after with fever, an ear infection, cough and congestion.  I had posted earlier that it began Monday night with a fever of 103. Tuesday, it came back that evening and has stayed until today. She has kept a fever of 101 or 102, but so far, we have been fever free for almost 24 hours.  I took Madalyn to the doctor Thursday morning and her right ear was infected. So she started on an antibiotic (I'm praying that she doesn't break out in hives). She has been a sick little girl. Madalyn is very active and this week she has played some but our evenings have been her curled up on the couch with me sitting at her feet.  And I haven't in any way told her to rest, she has just felt that bad. I am glad that I have been home this week to be with her.  However, she has the best attitude when she's sick. She is still her easy going self, but needs needs to me to hold her a little more. Which I gladly do, because it's rare she slows down long enough for you to just hold her anymore. Which is one thing I miss about her being a baby, is that you can just sit and hold her for as long as you like. The other thing I miss is when she was a baby, you could put her down and she would stay where you put her. ;0) However, I wouldn't want her to stay a baby forever. Each stage I enjoy the new changes, but miss some of the old; and to think in three months she will be 3 years old. Where does the time go?

This has been my baby girl all week.

Poor baby girl! :0(

However...this morning, with a fever free night and morning she had perked up some.

By this afternoon...she was still fever free and getting cabin fever..
We have played with all the new Christmas toys, puzzles, colored, watched TV, we couldn't go outside ...so I pulled out her finger painting set she got for Christmas to give her something new to do.

It was a big hit! So glad my baby girl is feeling better! :0)

2013 Coming to a Close

It's been a difficult year for our family, since Easter, we have been dealing with lots of sickness in our family. It began with Madalyn and myself getting a stomach virus and pink eye and it just spiraled from there to all the sickness Kevin has had and all the sickness I have had. I have been waiting for the past two months to find out if I am going to have to have surgery. Friday, December 27th I got the best Christmas present, after going to the doctor, I found out that I wasn't going to have to have surgery. I am so relieved and thankful that God has healed me; I was really expecting the worse. Even last night, I got about four hours of sleep, because Madalyn was up with a fever of 103, but she has been fever free so far today.  I pray that as we move into the year 2014 that it will be year of good health for my family. However, we will start the year off with my mom having knee replacement surgery January 13th, but hopefully that will be the start she needs to be on the road to recovery and healing.  Despite all the sickness we have dealt with God has delivered us and healed us, and has been right there beside us the whole time. Praise God for health and healing! We wish you and your family a Happy New Year and a year filled with good health and blessings.

Mommy & Me Time

It's been so nice to be home with Madalyn this week. It's so nice to have her come wake me up in the morning. She doesn't say a word, she just crawls into bed and gets under the covers and snuggles up to me. So sweet! It's so nice to be able to spend the day together and not have to wake up and rush out the house at 7:00am to work and preschool. So glad we have another week to spend together.

We went to feed the sheep and had to stop by the horse barn so get some oats for the sheep.  Madalyn had a lot of fun playing around in the barn.

I bought Madalyn this coat and Mrs. Katie bought Madalyn this hat at a craft show without seeing the jacket.  How amazing is it that they match!

Christmas Day Recap

Kevin was able to be off Christmas day and we got to spend the whole day together just the 3 of us.  We did go over to Kevin's parents' house to eat dinner with them that night.  Madalyn was very overwhelmed and unsure of her toys from Santa when she first came into the den yesterday morning. But after some coaxing from us, she started to get into opening her presents and seeing what Santa brought her.  We had a very nice day, lots of memories made.

Wingo and his Christmas present...a rubber chicken that squeaks
Madalyn was watching Wingo and she came outside. I told her to go back inside because it was cold and she didn't have shoes or a jacket on. She said "No Mommy, I want to see Wingo say cheese for the camera." LOL!

Madalyn is looking at one of my favorite
Christmas books from when I was a little girl. I bought her a new copy this year because it's a scratch and sniff book and after 32 years, my copy didn't smell anymore. The book is called "The Smell of Christmas".

The Hollywild Experience & our Weekend

We got out of school Thursday, Dec.19th at 11:15am and we headed to Greer to celebrate Christmas with my family for the weekend.  Thursday night we took Madalyn to Hollywild. Friday, we rode to the mountains to eat lunch and celebrate my dad's birthday, Saturday, we had two Christmas celebrations, and then another one on Sunday. We had a great long weekend and enjoyed our time celebrating with family.

Here's some pictures from our Hollywild experience!  Madalyn truly enjoyed it along with the rest of us.

Sorry for the blurry picture

This was the biggest cow we had ever seen...it was taller than the cars.

He put his head in the window to get the bread, Madalyn wasn't too sure about him coming into the car and I don't think Kevin was either.

At the Santa's Village, we got to see more animals and feed them.

A Christmas Engagement

My cousin Drew, proposed to his girlfriend, Heather, Friday, December 20th and she said "yes". Drew and Heather met the evening we got married (after our wedding) and have been dating since then. The funny thing is that not only did they meet on our wedding day, but they got engaged the same day we did, 6 years later (which was also her birthday). A wedding date hasn't yet been decided on, but we are happy for them.

Congratulations, Drew and Heather!
